James Melvin Russell, 78, left us on February 3, 2014 with family and friends by his side in Burlington, NC.
James was born June 15, 1935 in Orange County as the son of Clyde and Nannie Russell.
In 1973, James married Henrietta Farrar, who preceded him in death after 26 years of marriage.
Remembering him with love is one daughter. Ms. Charlotte Bradsher and two step-sons. Mr. William Patterson and Mr. Farrar Paterson. Also there are three brothers and two sisters, Mr. Gaddis Russell, Mr. Herman Russell, Mr. Benny Russell, Mrs. Magaline Anthony and Mrs. Macie Flythe. He is survives by a multitude of nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
James was a veteran of the US Army. Member of Bear Creek Masonic Lodge # 324 of Robbins, NC (PHA).
And was a Licensed Funeral Director of North Carolina in 1978. Then became Founder and Owner of Russell Funeral Home of Siler City, NC in 1980.
And three special friends who cared for him, Bishop William & Peggy Goins and Rev. Jeff Person.

Bishop William Author Goins, being a humble man of God answered God’s call
from labor to reward on Friday, December 2, 2016 at the Randolph Hospice House,
Asheboro, NC.
Bishop Goins was born to
the Late Russell and Carita Goldston Goins on December 17. 1943. He was raised
by his aunt Mrs. Beulah Degrafferenit whom preceded him in death.
Bishop Goins received his
education from Chatham Training School, which was later changed to Chatham High
School.
Bishop Goins was united in
holy matrimony to Peggy Spinks on July 20, 1963 and to this union one daughter
was born. Bishop Goins was a man that would encourage, pray and teach others
how to be successful in life. He was a preacher and friend who taught people
how to live and have a spiritual life with God. He was a great man of wisdom
beyond his years.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories and legacies, his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Mrs. Peggy S. Goins of the home; one daughter-Pam Goins of Siler City, NC, and two grandsons-Jonathan and Demetrius of Siler City, NC. He leaves one sister-in-law Mrs. Agnes Moore of Newport News, VA and two brother-in laws: Charles Spinks of Siler City, NC and Clyde Spinks of Bonlee, NC., one aunt: Mrs. LaEula Goldston of Siler City, NC and a host of nieces, nephews cousins, other relatives and friends. He also leaves a church family that loved him so dearly and two dear friends, Lee Edward Palmer and Pastor Listeen Mitchell of Mt. Vernon Springs, NC.
And in 1988, Became Owner/Operator of Goins Trucking Co. In 2001-Incorporated Goins Trucking Company and also went in to partnership with Russell Funeral Home of Siler City, NC in 2014.
