Carolyn Francine Woodson

Carolyn Francine Woodson, 56 of Greensboro, NC passed on Tuesday  October 12, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Carolyn was a loved and valued member of the Greensboro community. She served as a Greeter at New Light Missionary Baptist Church in Greensboro,  NC. Carolyn was a faithful longtime member of Fork Union Baptist Church in Buckingham, VA. Carolyn was a proud 1987 Graduate of North Carolina A & T University with a B.S. Industrial Technology Manufacturing degree. She loved being an Aggie and took advantage of every moment possible to yell out a good ole “Aggie Pride”.

Carolyn worked several years at Dun & Bradstreet, then worked for more than 20 years at Bank of America where she found joy in mastering many skills in various departments, earning the title of Assistant Vice President.  Along the way she made friends, which she cherished dearly and often spoke of positively.

Carolyn was passionate about her family and never missed an opportunity to brag on them. Her girls meant the world to her and anyone who talked to her knew it. They also probably knew that she loved spending time and taking walks with her grand-pup, Bentley. She had a supportive spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand to others. If you were having a graduation, birthday, or family event, she wanted to be there and she wanted to do her part. Carolyn had so much love and vigor for life; with a kind word and big smile for everyone she met. She never met a stranger, everyone felt at home in her presence. 

With all the time she made for others, Carolyn still managed to find time for the things she loved. She’d spend hours watching MSNBC and even coined herself a “political guru”. She loved to catch a good movie and her interest was especially peaked by history, so she combined the two by never passing Indiana Jones while flipping through channels. She recently combined this with a new love for travel, taking her dream trip to Egypt to see the Sphinx and Pyramids.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her Parents, James Henry Woodson and Lillian Saunders Woodson. She is survived by her daughters, Shannon Monique Woodson and Tanisha Shante’ Woodson, siblings Gloria Ann Perkins of Richmond, VA, James "Butch" (Marynell) Woodson of Buckingham,  VA, Doretha (Willard) Fleshman of Sprout Spring, VA, Gary (Takeda) Woodson of Richmond, VA, Shawn (Renee) Woodson of Fredericksburg, VA, William "Beanie" (Kellie) Woodson of Virginia Beach, VA, Aunt Francis Ayers of Conway, SC, father of her children, Tony Barber. She also has many nieces and nephews that she loved and cherished dearly.
